Painting, Drawing and Sculpture: Exploring Nature through the Arts
In this course, campers will explore the intersection of art and ecology through interdisciplinary artmaking, using the natural environment as both subject and inspiration. Beginning with drawing simple botanical still lifes, campers gradually progress to depicting complex landscapes, honing observational skills and deepening their connection to the natural world. Campers will work with a variety of mediums, starting with colored pencils and charcoal and transitioning into painting with watercolor. Along the way, they will expand their practice to include ephemeral and site-specific art, creating sculptures from found objects in nature. These projects will emphasize resourcefulness while preserving the natural landscape. This course is designed to inspire creativity, foster friendships, and encourage a deeper connection to both art and the natural world.
